What our fridge repair covers

A fridge has a short list of parts that do the real work. The compressor pumps the gas, the thermostat tells it when to run, the start relay gets it going, and in no frost models a defrost heater and timer keep ice off the cooling coil. When cooling fails, one of these is usually behind it.

Our technician tests each part with a meter before deciding on a repair, so you do not pay for parts that were working fine. You hear the fault and the cost first, and most fridge repairs are finished at your home.

Fridge faults we fix

A fridge usually gives a warning before it stops completely. These are the signs people call us about, and what we check for each.

Not cooling but the light is on

The thermostat, the start relay or low gas are the common causes. We test each one before deciding on a repair.

Freezer cold but the fridge section warm

This points to a defrost problem or a blocked air duct in no frost fridges. We check the defrost heater, timer and sensor and clear the ice.

Too much ice in the freezer

A faulty thermostat or a worn door gasket lets in moist air. We set or replace the thermostat and change the gasket if it no longer seals.

Compressor clicking or not starting

A failed relay or overload protector often makes this sound. If the compressor itself has failed, we explain the replacement cost before any work.

Fridge runs all the time

Dirty condenser coils, a weak gasket or low gas keep the compressor running without a break. That raises your electricity bill, so we fix the cause.

Water under the fridge

A blocked defrost drain sends water to the floor instead of the drip tray. We clear the drain and check the tray and the door seal.

Gas leaks and gas charging

A fridge that cools weakly for weeks and then stops completely has often lost its gas through a slow leak. The leak can sit in the coil at the back, a brazed joint or the pipe near the compressor. Recharging without fixing it only buys a few weeks.

We trace the leak, braze the joint and charge the fridge with the gas it was built for, such as R134a or R600a. After charging, we run the fridge and check that both sections cool properly before we leave.

Inverter fridges and board repair

Newer inverter fridges use a control board to run the compressor at different speeds. When the board fails, the fridge may not start at all, may cool unevenly from one day to the next or may show a blinking light on the panel.

We test the board, repair the faulty components where possible and replace the board when a repair will not last. Low voltage damages these boards more than anything else, so we check the supply at the same visit.

Signs your fridge needs a check

Keep the door closed as much as possible until the technician arrives. A full freezer stays cold longer than an empty one.

Simple care that keeps a fridge running

Most fridge breakdowns we see could have been delayed with a few habits. None of these need tools.

Leave a gap at the back

Keep a hand's width of space behind the fridge so the coil can release heat.

Clean the condenser coil

Dust on the coil at the back or underneath makes the compressor work harder. Clean it every few months.

Check the door seal

Close the door on a sheet of paper. If it slides out easily, the seal is letting warm air in.

Use the middle setting

The middle setting suits most homes. The coldest setting in summer overworks the compressor.

Use a stabilizer

Where the voltage drops in the evening, a stabilizer protects the compressor and the board.

Leave room inside

Packed shelves block the cold air. Leave space for air to move between items.

Power problems that damage fridges

A fridge runs day and night, so a weak supply wears it down faster than almost any other appliance. Because we are electricians, the supply gets checked along with the fridge.

Low evening voltage

We measure the voltage at the socket while the compressor starts, when drops do the most harm.

Loose plugs and sockets

A loose or burnt socket causes heat and repeated restarts. We repair or replace it.

Restarts after load shedding

A sudden restart when power returns strains the compressor. A stabilizer with a time delay helps, and we advise when one is needed.

Fridges and freezers we repair

We work on the refrigerators and freezers found in most local homes.

Single door

Compact fridges with a small freezer box, common in smaller kitchens.

Double door

Separate freezer and fridge sections, with direct cool or no frost cooling.

Inverter fridges

Variable speed models with a control board that needs careful testing.

Deep freezers

Chest and upright freezers used at home to store meat and food in bulk.

How a fridge repair visit works

Four steps from your call to a cold fridge.

1

Call or WhatsApp

Tell us the appliance, the brand, what it is doing and your area. A photo or short video on WhatsApp helps.

3

Fault and cost first

The technician checks the appliance, explains the fault and tells you the cost before any work starts.

4

Repair and test

We fix the fault and run the appliance in front of you so you can see it working.

Fridge brands we often see

If your brand is not listed, send the model on WhatsApp and we will tell you if we can help.

Areas we cover

Our base is in Police Foundation near Bahria Phase 6, and we visit homes across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Fridge repair questions

Quick answers before you call. For anything else, WhatsApp us on 0333 6182150.

If the cabinet and compressor are in good shape, a thermostat, relay or gas repair usually costs far less than a new fridge. If the compressor has failed on a very old unit, we tell you plainly so you can decide.

Repeated clicking from the back usually means the compressor is trying to start and the overload protector is cutting it off. A faulty relay, a weak overload or low voltage can cause this.

In no frost fridges this usually means ice has blocked the air duct because the defrost heater, timer or sensor has failed. We test those parts and clear the ice.

Finding and repairing the leak takes most of the time. The charging itself is quick, and we run the fridge afterwards to check that it cools.

Only if it smells of burning, sparks or trips the breaker. Otherwise leave it on with the door closed so the technician can see the fault.
