What our washing machine repair covers
An automatic washing machine runs on a few key parts. The inlet valve lets water in, the drain pump takes it out, the motor and belt turn the drum, the door lock keeps it shut and the control board runs the whole cycle. A twin tub is simpler, with separate wash and spin motors and a safety switch under the lid.
Our technician tests the part behind the fault before replacing anything. You hear what has failed and what it will cost, and most washing machine repairs are finished at your home.

Machine not draining
A blocked drain filter, a kinked hose or a failed drain pump leaves water in the drum. We clean the filter and test the pump.
Drum not spinning
A worn belt, worn carbon brushes, a faulty motor or an unbalanced load stops the spin. We check each and replace the worn part.
Machine will not start
A faulty door lock, a supply problem or a control board fault can stop the machine. We test the lock, the supply and the board.
Water leaking on the floor
Leaks come from the door seal, the hoses, the pump or the tub seal. We find the source and replace the part.
Loud noise or heavy shaking
Worn bearings, broken shock absorbers or an uneven floor cause noise and shaking. We level the machine and replace worn parts.
Twin tub spin dryer not working
On twin tub machines the spin motor, the safety switch under the lid and the brake are common fault points. We test each and repair the one at fault.
Drain and filter problems
Water left in the drum is the most common washing machine call. In most cases the drain filter at the bottom front of the machine is blocked with lint, coins or hair clips, or the drain hose is kinked behind the machine. Less often, the drain pump itself has failed.
We clean the filter, check the hose and test the pump before replacing it. If you want to try first, switch the machine off, place a towel and a shallow tray under the filter cover and open it slowly. If water still stays in the drum after cleaning, call us.

Error codes and control boards
Automatic machines show an error code when a part fails a self check. Codes for drain, water inlet, door lock and motor faults are the most common. The same code can mean different things on different brands, so the brand and the code help us come prepared.
When the control board itself has failed, we test it and repair the faulty components where possible. Voltage drops and power cuts in the middle of a cycle are a common cause of board damage, so if you run your machine on backup, make sure your UPS can carry the load.
Signs your machine needs a check

Clean the drain filter
Open and clean the filter every month to stop lint and small objects building up.
Leave the door open
After washing, leave the door open so the seal and drum can dry and smells do not build up.
Use the right detergent
Too much powder leaves residue that blocks hoses. Use the amount on the pack, and low suds powder in front loaders.
Balance the load
One heavy blanket on its own throws the drum off balance. Mix large and small items.
Keep it level
An uneven floor makes the machine walk and shake. Adjust the feet until it sits flat.
Protect the board
Where voltage drops are common, a stabilizer helps protect the control board.
Power and water supply checks
Many washing machine faults start outside the machine. Because we are electricians, we check what feeds it as well.
Socket and earthing
A washing machine sits near water, so the socket must be sound and properly earthed. We check both.
Voltage drops
Low voltage stalls the motor and damages the board. We measure it and advise on a stabilizer where needed.

Why is my washing machine not draining?
The drain filter is usually blocked, the hose is kinked or the drain pump has failed. Clean the filter first, and call us if the water still stays in the drum.
Why does my washing machine shake so much?
An unbalanced load, an uneven floor or worn shock absorbers are the usual causes. If it still shakes with a balanced load on a level floor, the suspension needs repair.
Why will my washing machine not start?
A door that is not fully shut, a socket with no power or a control board fault are the usual causes. Check that the door is closed firmly and the socket works, then call us.
Why is my front load door still locked after the wash?
Most machines keep the door locked for a short time after the cycle or while water is still inside. If it stays locked with an empty drum, the door lock or the drain may be faulty.
Do you repair twin tub machines?
Yes. We repair twin tub machines as well as front load and top load automatic machines.
Can you fix the control board?
Yes. We test the board and repair the faulty components, or replace the board if a repair is not possible.
Is it worth repairing an older machine?
A pump, belt, lock or seal is a small repair compared with buying a new machine. If the drum bearings or the board have failed on an old unit, we explain the options so you can decide.
Can you come on a weekend?
