What our geyser repair covers
A gas geyser depends on a small pilot flame, a thermocouple that proves the pilot is lit, a gas valve and a burner. An electric geyser depends on a heating element and a thermostat. When hot water stops, the fault is almost always in one of these parts or in the fittings around the tank.
Our technician tests each part before replacing anything and checks every gas and water joint before the geyser goes back into use. You hear the fault and the cost first, and most geyser repairs are finished in one visit.

Geyser faults we fix
Most geyser calls come in the first cold weeks of the year. These are the faults we see most, for gas and electric units alike.
Pilot light keeps going off
A dirty pilot, a weak thermocouple or low gas pressure is usually behind it. We clean the pilot assembly, test the thermocouple and replace it if needed.
No hot water from an electric geyser
The heating element or the thermostat has usually failed, or the thermostat is set wrong. We test both with a meter, replace the part that has gone and set a safe temperature.
Geyser tank leaking
Small leaks often come from the drain valve, the inlet and outlet fittings or the safety valve. A rusted tank body may need replacement, and we tell you which it is.
Burner flame weak or yellow
A blocked burner or nozzle gives a weak, yellow flame and slow heating. We clean the burner and nozzle until the flame burns blue.
Instant geyser not heating
In instant geysers the flow switch, the ignition and the gas valve or heating unit are common fault points. We test each one and repair the fault.
Electric geyser tripping the breaker
A leaking element or damaged wiring trips the breaker. We test the element insulation and the supply wire, and fix the one at fault.
A blue flame is a safe flame
A gas geyser burner should burn with a steady blue flame. A yellow or orange flame means the gas is not burning cleanly, usually because the burner, the nozzle or the air intake is blocked with dust or rust. A dirty flame heats slowly, leaves soot and can produce carbon monoxide.
We clean the burner and nozzle, check the gas pressure and confirm the flue is clear so fumes leave the house. If the flame still burns yellow after cleaning, we explain what else needs attention before the geyser is used again.

Gas geyser safety at home
A gas geyser should be installed in a ventilated place with a flue that carries fumes outside. Never run a gas geyser inside a closed bathroom, and never block the vents around it to keep the room warm.
Headaches, dizziness or a sleepy feeling while the geyser is running can be signs of carbon monoxide. Switch it off, open the windows, get everyone into fresh air and call us before using it again.
Call us before using the geyser if

- Drips from the safety valve or pipe joints
- An electric geyser that trips the breaker
- Any smell of gas near the geyser
If there is a gas smell, shut the gas valve and open every window before anything else. Do not switch lights on or off until the leak is found.
What a geyser check before winter includes
The right time to check a geyser is October, before the first cold night. A check covers both the heating parts and the safety parts.
Burner and pilot
The burner and pilot are cleaned so the flame lights quickly and burns blue.
Thermostat
The thermostat is tested and set to a safe temperature for daily use.
Element test
On electric geysers the element is tested for resistance and for leakage to earth.
Safety valve
The pressure relief valve is checked so the tank cannot build up too much pressure.
Fittings and joints
Inlet, outlet and gas joints are checked for drips and leaks.
Tank flush
Where scale has built up, the tank is flushed so it heats faster.
Electric geysers and your wiring
An electric geyser draws more current than almost anything else in the house. Because we are electricians, the circuit gets checked along with the geyser.
Breaker and wire size
The geyser needs a breaker and wire that match its load. Undersized ones overheat or trip.
Earthing
A metal tank full of water must be properly earthed. We check the earth connection before the geyser is used.
Never on the UPS
A home UPS cannot carry an electric geyser. Keep the geyser on the main supply only.

Why does my gas geyser pilot keep going out?
The pilot is usually dirty, the thermocouple is weak or the gas pressure is low. We clean the pilot, test the thermocouple and check the gas supply.
How often should a geyser be serviced?
Once a year, ideally in October before winter use begins.
Is a yellow flame in my geyser dangerous?
It can be. A yellow flame shows the gas is burning poorly, which can release carbon monoxide. Turn the geyser off and get the burner cleaned before using it again.
Why does my electric geyser trip the breaker?
Usually the element has developed a leak to earth or the wiring to the geyser is damaged. Leave it off and call us so both can be tested.
Why is my geyser taking longer to heat water?
Scale inside the tank, a dirty burner or a thermostat set too low are the usual causes. A yearly check and a tank flush often fix it.
Do you repair instant geysers?
Yes. We repair both gas and electric instant geysers.
Can a geyser run on a home UPS?
No. An electric geyser draws far more current than a home UPS can supply. Keep it on the main supply only.
Can you come early in the morning?
Yes. Cold mornings are when most geysers fail, and we are open through the night from Saturday to Thursday. On Friday we work from 2 PM to 10 PM.
